GAYORD – Gaylord senior cross country and track and field athletes Alexis and Katelyn Smith signed their National Letter of Intent with Northern Michigan University on Thursday.
The two led the Blue Devils to a fourth-place finish at the 2015 MHSAA Division 2 cross country finals and a 16th-place finish in 2014.
Alexis finished fourth at the 2015 finals, with Katelyn coming home in 12th. Alexis also finished fourth in the 1,600 run at the 2015 Division 2 track and field state finals and eighth in the 3,200.
Both are expected to compete in cross country and track and field at NMU.
