TC St. Francis Runner-Up at D4 State Finals

KALAMAZOO – For the second consecutive year, the top-ranked Traverse City St. Francis girls tennis program registered a runner-up finish at the MHSAA Division 4 state finals at Kalamazoo College.

The Gladiators finished one point (27 points) behind state champion Bloomfield Hills Academy of Sacred Heart, marking the fourth straight year that St. Francis has finished in the top three.

Third-seeded Rosie Wilson won a state title at No. 4 singles, defeating Academy of Sacred Heart’s Victoria Shahnazany, 7-5, 6-2.  

Anne Bandrowski (No. 3 singles), Bethany Richey/Mary Margaret Sutherland (No. 2 doubles) and Nicole Ehardt/Camille Madion all finished runner-up at their respective flights.

Harbor Springs also finished 10th, with six points.

In Division 1 action, Traverse City Central came home with a 12th-place finish, netting five points over the two-day event.

At the Division 3 state meet in Holland, Cadillac finished in 17th with three points, while Ludington finished 21st.
