Glen Lake’s Nichole Cox Signs with Bowling Green

MAPLE CITY – Three-time defending individual state champion Nichole Cox made history on Wednesday, becoming Glen Lake’s first female golfer to sign a National Letter of Intent with a Division I program.

Cox, who won her third straight MHSAA Division 4 Lower Peninsula individual state championship in October, will continue her career at Bowling Green (Ohio) in the fall.

"I wanted somewhere close. I didn’t want to go way down south,” Cox said. “I really love the coach and the program is great. In the next couple years, I think we’ll be really good. It feels complete. Like before, I could just say I was going there but now, it’s in writing, I’m going there. Not a lot of people get the opportunity to do it. So I’m going to so it’s just awesome."

In addition to winning three straight state titles, Cox concluded her prep career with four individual regional championships.
