Sault Ste. Marie Falls to John Glenn in D2 Quarters

MT. PLEASANT – Fresh off winning its first regional championship since 2011, the Sault Ste. Marie baseball team saw its season come to end Tuesday with an 11-1 loss in five innings to Bay City John Glenn in a Division 2 quarterfinal at Central Michigan University.

The Blue Devils trailed 1-0 after the opening inning and 2-1 through three innings.

Sault Ste. Marie’s lengthy postseason run included wins over Petoskey (1-0), Cheboygan (11-0), Whitehall (2-0) and Sparta (14-3).

The Blue Devils won 17 of their final 18 games and finish with a 25-10 record.

      Onekama baseball sweeps Baldwin

      BALDWIN - Onekama baseball jumped on Baldwin early and often in its away doubleheader on Monday, winning 18-0 and 18-2. The Portagers entered the third inning with a 15-0 lead. Randy Pienta, who started on the mound for Onekama, helped himself out with a single through the left side of the infield. Jacob Mauntler scored on the hit for the game’s 16th run.
