Peska's Perfect Game Leads Shepherd to State Semis

UNIVERSITY CENTER – Junior Haley Peska tossed a perfect game and the Shepherd softball team posted a 5-0 win over Millington in a Division 3 state quarterfinal at Saginaw Valley State on Tuesday.

Winners of the 1978 Class C state title, the Bluejays (27-18) opened Tuesday’s contest with a two-run first inning before tacking on three insurance runs in the fourth.

Tuesday’s game was a rematch of last year’s Division 3 quarterfinal, when Millington eked out a 1-0 win.

Shepherd will take on defending state champion Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central Friday in a state semifinal at Michigan State.
