CMU's Doan, Conklin Named to Watch Lists

Posted:

MT. PLEASANT – Central Michigan senior center Austin Doan and senior tight end Tyler Conklin have been named to the Rimington Trophy and John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, respectively.

At 6-4, 300 pounds, Doan is one of 70 centers in the country and nine from the Mid-American Conference to be named to the list.

The Rimington Trophy is named after former Nebraska star Dave Rimington, who was a two-time All-American and the only center to twice win the Outland Trophy, which is presented to the country’s top lineman.

Conklin ranked second on CMU’s roster in touchdown receptions and third in receptions and receiving yardage last season. The 6-4, 240-pound senior caught 42 passes for 560 yards and six touchdowns in 2016 and is one of 55 players nationwide to be named to the watch list.

Named in honor of NFL Hall of Famer John Mackey, the award is presented to the most outstanding tight end in college football. The winner will be announced on Dec. 6.
