Traverse City's Halverson Working His Way Up Rangers Ladder

Posted:

TRAVERSE CITY – New York Rangers goaltending prospect and Traverse City native Brandon Halverson made a brief appearance at this week’s Detroit Red Wings Development Camp.

The 21-year-old and 2014 second-round pick by the Rangers, split his 2016-17 season between the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL over 35 appearances.

Halverson was called up twice by the big club last season, but did not see action with the Rangers.

That small taste of the game on its biggest stage has motivated Halverson to work towards taking the next step up the organizational ladder.

"This summer is huge for me, for a lot of reasons, and next year I want to come in and make a big impact with Hartford and possibly New York,” Halverson said. “I'm just getting stronger this summer, eating right, and doing all of the things right, so that when I come into camp, I can turn some heads. Last year I backed up twice, so that was quite the experience, but I mean, once I get that first real start, that's going to be something really special."

Halverson says he plans to spend the next month out in east, training with teammates.
