Manistee’s Kott Named AP Class B Second Team All-State

DETROIT (AP) — Benton Harbor’s Kysre Gondrezick has been named Associated Press girls Class B Player of the Year.

   The 5-foot-10 guard set multiple state records. She became the first girls basketball player to average 40 points in a season, averaging 40.5 while also setting a record with a 72-point game in an 80-78 double-overtime win over Buchanan in the opening round of the district tournament.

   Also named to the first team all-state were Cassidy Boensch of Bay City John Glenn; Alexis Sevillian of Goodrich; Birmingham Country Day teammates Destiny Pitts and Kaela Webb; Renee Sturm of Williamston; Kayla Brown of Dearborn Heights Robichaud; Tiera Thomas of Detroit Henry Ford; Hannah Reinhold of Muskegon Oakridge; and Ashton Combs of Imlay City.

   Frank Orlando of Detroit Country Day was named Class B Coach of the Year.
