SAULT STE. MARIE – The Sault Ste. Marie softball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests to visiting Alpena on Thursday.
The Wildcats won by scores of 13-2 and 8-0.
In the opener, Sault Ste. Marie’s Callie Church led the Blue Devils at the plate, going 2-for-3, while Ali Krupa added a triple.
Church took the loss, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits.
In the nightcap, Maddie Piche, Taylor Smith and Allie Gillhooley all had singles for the Blue Devils.
Jacki Sanderson was saddled with the loss, giving up four earned runs on eight hits while striking out two.
