McIntyre joins 1,000 win club

MOUNT PLEASANT – With a pair of dominant wins over Saginaw Arthur Hill on Monday, Mt. Pleasant varsity softball coach Ted McIntyre became the sixth coach in the state of Michigan to reach the 1,000-win plateau.

The Oilers won game one 20-0, and game two 16-0.

McIntyre helped start the softball program at Mt. Pleasant back in 1975 and has coached close to 300 players over the course of his career in blue and gold.  He led Mt. Pleasant to a Class A State Championship in 1993, and a Runner-Up Finish in Division 2 back in 2010.

Dozens of former players were on hand to help celebrate the milestone achievement, and McIntyre said that seeing all of the “kids” again was better than any win on his resume.
