Cadillac’s Ben Simons Continues Basketball Career

CADILLAC – He was the 2009 Mr. Basketball runner-up, now Ben Simons is continuing his professional career, after signing a one-year contract with the Limburg United in Belgium.

Following his graduation from Drake University, Simons headed to Belgium to play for the Antwerp Giants. During his second season with Antwerp, Simons appeared in 33 games, averaging 7.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest. However, when his contract was up, Simons was not offered another deal, sending him back home to the United States.

“You know, there’s a lot of times where, you know, you might play for one season and be done,” said Cadillac native Ben Simons. “I was fortunate to play for two, which for a lot of people would be a great career, but you know, I still had the desire to play and I’m very happy I’ll be able to do that again.”

In mid-August, Simons will head to Hasselt, Belgium. He says he’ll being training now for his next professional stint.
