Lilleboe Leads Michigan PGA Tournament of Champions

BOYNE FALLS – Eric Lilleboe’s seven-under 65 topped the leaderboard after the first round of the 25th Michigan PGA Tournament of Champions at Boyne Mountain’s Alpine course on Monday.

The three-day, 54-hole stroke play championship features a field of 111 past champions of Michigan PGA event winners.

John Seltzer of East Grand Rapids currently sits in second at six under, while Wayland’s Jeff Bronkema and Grosse Ile’s Jeffrey Cuzzort are tied for third at five under.

“It’s pretty wide fairways, but you have to be on the right sides of them, and the greens are big on the Alpine,” Bronkema said. “I’ve heard that they’re a little smaller on the other course, but it fits my game really well. I’m playing well right now and just have to keep it going.”

Cadillac’s Jim Boyle leads the field of local competitors after shooting a two-under 70.

The tournament’s second round shifts to the Monument course on Tuesday, with golfers teeing off at 8 a.m.
