Seltzer Grabs Lead at Michigan PGA Tournament of Champions
BOYNE FALLS – John Seltzer of East Grand Rapids grabbed the second-round lead at the Michigan PGA Tournament of Champions at Boyne Mountain on Tuesday.
After carding a 66 on Monday at Alpine course, Seltzer shot a one-under 71 on the Monument so sit at seven under for the tournament, leading Kyle Martin and JR Roth by one stroke.
"That golf course, the Monument, is a lot different than the Alpine. Obviously there’s just trouble on every golf swing,” Seltzer said. “So, it’s just a kind of hold on for dear life, and try not to make any big mistakes, and hopefully maybe a couple of birdies. You saw the scores from the first day. Sixty-five, 66, 67s… Those will be there again come tomorrow. So, it’s just one of those where you’ve got to be really aggressive."
Traverse City’s Scott Hebert paces the local contingency, sitting in 11th place at three under (71-70).
Final round play from the Alpine course tees off Wednesday at 8 a.m.
