Benzie Central Looking to Rebound in 2016

BENZONIA – Searching for its first winning season since 2011, the Benzie Central football program begins its third season under coach Jason Katt.

Benzie Central has struggled since reaching the postseason and recording a 7-3 finish in 2011, going a combined 2-25 over the last three seasons.

“Our program philosophy is work ethic, effort and attitude. Do the things that we can control,” Katt said. “We’re getting better at those things. We’re not there yet with all three phases, but when we are, things will click in the positive direction on the scoreboard.”

The Huskies find themselves once again in a loaded Northern Michigan Football League Legends division, alongside Cheboygan, Boyne City, Kalkaska, Elk Rapids, Grayling, Kingsley and Traverse City St. Francis.

Benzie Central opens its season by hosting Mason County Central on Aug. 25.
