Cadillac Looks to Rebound in 2016

CADILLAC – The Cadillac football program begins its second season under coach Cody Mallory in 2016.

The Vikings ended their streak of six consecutive winning seasons and were dethroned by Traverse City Central atop the Big North Conference standings a year ago after a 2-7 season.

Mallory and his staff have been busy making over the offensive playbook.

"The good thing about this group of kids is that, it’s a lot of guys that just come in and do their work as a unit,” Mallory said. “Not any one individual standing out above the rest. It’s been really good thus far."

With a majority of its starters returning in the trenches, Cadillac is optimistic for a turnaround this fall.

"We don’t have any spectacular, really, you know, D-1 players. But I think together we can work really well,” senior Connor Flint said.

"I’m excited. I think we’ll work together well,” added senior Kaden Dennis. “I think it’s going to be a good year and a good team."

Cadillac opens its season at Big Rapids on Aug. 25. The Vikings also have non-league contests against Bay City John Glenn (Sept. 1), Ogemaw Heights (Sept. 23) and Manistee (Oct. 14).
