CMU Football Hosts Media Day

MT. PLEASANT – Central Michigan football officially kicked off its second year under coach John Bonamego on Friday with the program’s annual media day.

The Chippewas opened fall camp a week ago and return a majority of their starters, including senior quarterback Cooper Rush, from last year’s Mid-American Conference West division championship squad.

"Coaches and players alike are all busy, you know, installing our system, and learning how to communicate and work together,” Bonamego said. “It’s been a very productive camp so far. We’ll have our first scrimmage tomorrow. We want to keep it crisp, because right now we’re a healthy football team, and we want to stay that way. You know, our alumni, our fans, our former players, they expect us to compete for and win championships, and that’s what we’re here to do."

The Chippewas open their season on Sept. 1, hosting Presbyterian (S.C.) College at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
