East Jordan, Chippewa Hills Highlights Week 2 of Sports Overtime

EAST JORDAN – After ending a five-game losing streak last week with a 24-point win over Suttons Bay, East Jordan looks to begin the year at 2-0 as it hosts Mesick on Thursday as our “MISportsNow Fans’ Choice Game of the Week.”
Thursday’s contests marks the first meeting between the two programs.

For our “Overtime on the Road” matchup, Chippewa Hills (1-0) celebrates its 50th season and unveils new stadium upgrades as it hosts Fremont (0-1).

“First home game is pretty exciting,” Chippewa Hills senior Billy Koepf said. “To have it the unveiling of the new stadium, that makes it a little more special. It’s always nice to have a home crowd here.”

Debuting in the Central State Activities Gold division, Fremont is coming off a 39-0 loss to Sparta a week ago.

“We really have to keep our heads up, no matter what happens,” Fremont senior Caleb Koomen said. “If we fumble it or intercept it, we’ve got to look at the good points in the game. We’ve got to make some big plays.”
