Ferris State Football Tabbed Second in GLIAC North
BIG RAPIDS – On the heels of consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, the Ferris State football program was picked to finish second in the 2016 GLIAC North Division Preseason Poll, the league announced Wednesday.
Owners of a 25-game regular season unbeaten streak, the preseason nationally-ranked Bulldogs received 45 points and three first-place votes, finishing behind Grand Valley State, which received 47 points and five first-place votes. Michigan Tech was selected third (35 points), followed by Wayne State (30), Hillsdale (21), Saginaw Valley State (16) and Northwood and Northern Michigan with 15 points each.
Ashland was selected as the favorite in the South Division, receiving 25 points and five first-place votes.
Ferris State will start its quest for a third straight NCAA Division II postseason bid when it opens its 2016 season on Sept. 1, hosting Ohio Dominican at Top Taggart Field.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
