Ferris State Honors Former Equipment Manager

BIG RAPIDS – After a career spanning more than three decades, former Ferris State hockey equipment manager Ben Mumah announced his retirement earlier this year.

Mumah was recognized Saturday at the fifth annual Bulldog Hockey Classic-Alumni Golf Outing at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, as former coaches and players presented the longtime manager with a pontoon boat.

"The players got together and they all chipped in to buy him a boat and I think that, again, speaks to how much they enjoy their experience here and how much they appreciate,” Ferris State coach Bob Daniels said. “Ben Mumah has been here 30-plus years as our equipment guy and I just feel like he took such good care of them while they were here, it was an easy thing to get them to pool the money together for this nice, really wonderful retirement gift.”

Despite announcing his retirement, Mumah plans to assist the hockey program for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
