Greg Kitson Takes Over at East Jordan
EAST JORDAN – A new coach and a new league await the East Jordan football program this fall.
Greg Kitson takes over a program searching for its first winning season since 2013 and first postseason bid since 2003.
The Red Devils also make the move from the Northern Michigan Football League Leaders division to the Legacy division, joining Central Lake, St. Ignace, Johannesburg-Lewiston, Gaylord St. Mary, Harbor Springs and Inland Lakes.
“I’m really pretty excited about where we can be and with the new conference schedule, we’re playing schools a little more our size,” Kitson said. “With our offense, we’re going to be able to spread it around and going to be able to run it and throw.”
After going 5-4 as freshmen, this year’s seniors are looking to end their careers on top.
“I think we’ve been a lot more focused this year,” senior Trey Peterson said. “I’d love to get over five games winning and to break .500 for my senior year. I did it my freshman year and I’d love to do it again.”
East Jordan opens its season at Suttons Bay on Aug. 25.
