Inland Lakes Joins NMFL
INDIAN RIVER – On the heels of three consecutive winning seasons, Inland Lakes joins the growing Northern Michigan Football League Legacy division this fall.
With the conference expanding from two to three divisions, and with the Ski Valley Conference ending its sponsorship of football, Inland Lakes joins St. Ignace, Johannesburg-Lewiston, Central Lake, Harbor Springs, East Jordan and Gaylord St. Mary in the Legacy division.
“It’s going to be a big challenge to play some of the teams we’ve got lined up,” senior Thomas Conners said. “I mean, we’re going against some of the best teams in northern Michigan and it’s going to be a dog brawl every single game.”
The Bulldogs have their work cut for them, with seven of their nine opponents coming off playoff seasons.
“Every year I’ve been here, we’ve had to step up our game with the changing of our conference. It seemed like every two to three years,” coach Stan Schramm said. “I know our boys in the past and I know our boys here right now in the present will step up their game and take their game to another level.”
Inland Lakes opens its season at St. Ignace on Aug. 26.
