Lakeview Looks to Continue Winning Ways

LAKEVIEW – Despite stringing together four consecutive winning seasons, last year’s 5-4 record was a bittersweet one for Lakeview.

Winners of the 2014 Central State Activities Association Silver title, the Wildcats finished just points shy of earning their third straight postseason bid.

With a deep roster loaded with juniors, Lakeview is motivated to return to the playoffs in 2016.

"I like the fact that we have a lot of young guys that are trying to lead, that are coming out here, and they’re being verbal, and not only leading by example, but leading by talking and saying things,” coach Sean Rinehart said. “That’s really important, you know, when you have a young team like this. I think that can go a long ways."

Working in Lakeview’s favor is having a veteran group leading both the offensive and defensive lines.

"I think with the offensive line that we have, we’re going to be more power, but we also have a couple of speed running backs, so we can be both," senior Caleb Cavendish said.

"I feel like we mesh really well,” added senior James Smith. “We don’t have the outcast group. We’re all one brotherhood. We’re in the battle together."

Lakeview opens its season with three straight home games, hosting Tri-County on Aug. 25.
