Loons Cruise Past Captains, Snap Skid

MIDLAND – The Great Lakes Loons snapped a three-game skid to the Lake County Captains with a 12-3 win at Dow Diamond on Thursday.

Scoreless after an inning and a half, Darien Tubbs drove in the game’s first run on a double to left field, scoring Erick Meza. Great Lakes (46-63) would tack on six runs over the second, third and fourth innings to carry a 6-1 lead to the seventh.

Meza’s three hits and four RBIs led the Loons, while Brendon Davis went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and three RBIs.

Dennis Santana earned the win after relieving starter Mitchell White in the third. White did not allow a hit and struck out three in the start.

Santana allowed just one run on two hits while striking out six over five innings of work.

The two teams will close out their three-game series Friday.

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
