Morley Stanwood Eyes CSAA Silver Title
MORLEY – On the heels of consecutive postseason appearances, the Morley Stanwood football program is eyeing a conference championship in 2016.
A seven-point loss to Hesperia prevented Morley from a winning a Central State Activities Association Silver division title a year ago.
"I think over the last couple of years the CSAA Silver division has really had some parity,” coach Clark Huntey said. “It’s a pretty equal playing field across the board now. Our focus is trying to win every game in the CSAA, just like everyone else is and try to walk out with a league championship.
The Mohawks will debut a more run-orientated offense this fall.
"It will probably help us out more, like bigger teams that we play like have bigger guys than us, because we’re just going to run and run and run and they’re not, they’re just going to get tired,” senior Dayne Edgerly said. “I think it’ll be good for us to have this offense this year."
Morley will open its season against Central Montcalm on Aug. 25. The Mohawks will also face Pine River (Sept. 1), Beal City (Oct. 14) and Lake City (Oct. 21) in non-conference action.
