Posen Looks to Duplicate Success in 2016

POSEN – Few 8-man football programs could match the turnaround Posen had in 2015.

A year after going 4-5, the Vikings went undefeated during the regular season, earning a Bridge Alliance Football League title outright and securing a victory over Pickford in a pre-regional.

The 10-1 season was Posen’s first since winning record since 2010 and best finish since 2002.

"We got some good senior leadership and we’re looking at really creating our own identity and just having another great season this year,” coach Greg Pietsch said. “Try to develop the toughness, you know, you develop the toughness first and then you can do your X’s and O’s and kind of get to your play book. You know, it’s kind of what we’re working on and we’re trying to set the tone here right away and this week.”

The Vikings will have their work cut out for them this fall after graduating all-state dual threat quarterback Travis Sharpe and all-state running back Skyler Tulgetske.

"We’re all working really hard, you know, in the weight room, in the summertime a bunch of kids are going there after work,” senior Darren Dubie said. “As long as we put in the work, you know, every day at practice, work hard at practice. We are determined to win, and I think we’ll be okay.”

Posen opens its season with the Flint Michigan School for the Deaf on Aug. 26.
