Senior-Laden Group to Lead Grayling in 2016
GRAYLING – A senior class of 17 will look to propel Grayling to its first gridiron district title in more than decade this fall.
With the return of all-state quarterback Cam Summers and all-state wide receiver Sam Reinke, the Vikings will look to build off last year’s 6-4 record and sixth postseason bid in seven seasons.
With such a large returning class, Grayling hasn’t skipped a beat through the opening days of practice.
"It’s big for us, having guys returning is huge for offense because you can just pick up kind of where you left off,” coach Tim Sanchez said. “We are able already to learn stuff today that we didn’t get in until Week 6 or 7 last year.
“Having that leadership, we have a lot of good senior leaders this year that have been working hard all summer long, and now it’s time for them to bring the younger guys along."
The Vikings will compete in the Northern Michigan Football League’s Legends division, joined alongside by Class B and C schools Cheboygan, Elk Rapids, Kalkaska, Traverse City St. Francis, Kingsley, Benzie Central and Boyne City.
Grayling kicks off its season with a pair of road games at Roscommon (Aug. 25) and Gladwin (Sept. 1).
