TC Central’s Lansbach Continues Pro Career in Spain
PETOSKEY – Traverse City native Dori Lansbach’s professional basketball career has taken her across the European Continent.
A 2009 Traverse City Central graduate, Lansbach recently signed with Arenys Basquet of Spain’s Catalana Basketball Federation.
The former two-time Big North Conference Player of the Year and Class A all-state honoree spent the previous two seasons at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, leading the school’s professional program to consecutive Scottish National League titles while earning MVP honors in the Scottish Cup.
While at the University of Edinburgh, Lansbach completed her master’s degree in film directing, creating the documentary “Growing up Gold,” based on her aunts Wendy Lansbach Bogliolo and Laurie Lansbach Lehner. Bogliolo and Lehner were gold medalists at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and 1983 Pam-American Games in Venezuela.
"Playing overseas, playing professionally, has always been a dream of mine since I was little,” Lansbach said. “Going through college… it was difficult in that I didn’t get the playing time that I had hoped for. So having that dream off in the distance has kind of fueled me to continue playing, and keep working.
“I’m grateful for any opportunity that I get. I’m much more confident in what I can do now, and I still put in the same work. That hasn’t changed. But it’s definitely improved, and I don’t feel like I’ve peaked yet."
Lansbach concluded her prep career with 1,327 points before continuing on at the University of North Florida and Pepperdine University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education.
Lansbach’s first game is on Sept. 18.
