Chippewa Hills Shuts Out Fremont in “Overtime on the Road”
REMUS – Hosting its 50th anniversary celebration, the Chippewa Hills football program opened its new facility by rolling to a 49-0 win over Fremont in our “Overtime on the Road” matchup on Thursday.
DJ Lowery and David Spedowski combined to score four touchdowns in the first quarter, as the Warriors (2-0, 1-0) took a commanding 28-0 lead after 12 minutes.
Jake Justice then added a touchdown run of his own in the opening minutes of the second, to push the lead to 35.
“I love this team,” Spedowski said. “This is probably one of our best out of the 50 years. We’re 37 deep is what we say, because any of us can go in at the same time and do the same impact.”
In addition to unveiling its new facilities Thursday, Chippewa Hills honored its alumni at halftime.
“A lot of them haven’t been back to see a game since they graduated,” coach Larry Jose said. “To show them this, to show them the product that we want to make, we want them to be proud of being an alumni of this school. I hope we did that tonight, in a lot of different ways, but you know, the performance on the field, I hope they’re proud to say they’re a Warrior right now.”
Chippewa Hills travels to Newaygo next Friday, while Fremont (0-2, 0-1) hosts Reed City.
