Flint Carries Cadillac Past Gaylord in “Overtime on the Road”

CADILLAC – Connor Flint’s touchdown with less than four minutes remaining in regulation lifted Cadillac to a 16-12 win over Gaylord in our “Overtime on the Road” matchup on Friday.

The win was Cadillac’s seventh in its last eight meetings with Gaylord and moves the Vikings to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Big North Conference play.

“It’s kind of become something that’s happened to us a couple times this year,” Cadillac coach Cody Mallory said. Had a big come-from-behind against Alpena. Just been in that tight spot before, so our kids are comfortable there and they believe they’re going to come out on top in that spot.”

Trailing 8-6 through three quarters, Gaylord’s Davis Eyth scored his second rushing touchdown of the night to put the Blue Devils (2-4, 0-2) ahead 12-8 with 7:45 remaining in the fourth.

Eyth broke a scoreless on a 13-yard scamper with 7:33 remaining in the second, putting Gaylord ahead 6-0.

Cadillac quarterback Kegan Brooks would respond less than three minutes later on a 12-yard keeper to give the Vikings an 8-6 lead at the half.

"We just keep fighting. We don’t stop fighting,” Brooks said. “We call each other our brothers. It’s a brotherhood. That’s all it is. We do everything together.”

Cadillac travels to Traverse City West next Saturday, while Gaylord hosts Petoskey on Friday.
