Kalkaska Shuts Out Cheboygan, Moves to 5-0
KALKASKA – Kalkaska continued its best start to a season since its undefeated 1981 campaign with a dominant 35-0 win over visiting Cheboygan in Northern Michigan Football League Legends action on Thursday.
Holding a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter after Tanner Scott’s 10-yard scoring run, Hunter Suydam connected with favorite target Nolan Mitchell for a 63-yard score, as Kalkaska held a 14-0 edge following the two-point conversion.
Mitchell put the Blazers (5-0, 2-0) ahead by 20 just prior to the end of the first on a 2-yard run.
Kalkaska then took a 27-0 lead at the half on a blocked punt that was returned by Suydam.
The Blazers return to the field next Friday, traveling to Boyne City, while Cheboygan (1-4, 0-3) will pick up a forfeit win over Benzie Central.
