Red Wings Announce Prospect Tournament Schedule

TRAVERSE CITY – The Detroit Red Wings announced Thursday their schedule for the 2016 NHL Prospect Tournament to be held at Traverse City’s Centre Ice Arena, Sept. 16-20.

Returning for its 18th season in Traverse City, the eight-team tournament features prospects from the Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars, Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues.

The round-robin tournament will divide teams into two four-team divisions, with Chicago, Columbus, Detroit and St. Louis playing in the Gordie Howe Division, while Carolina, Dallas, Minnesota and the New York Rangers will participate in the Ted Lindsay Division. The winners of the two divisions will meet for the Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The tournament opens Friday, Sept. 16 at 8:30 a.m., with the championship game scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
