Red Wings Embark on New Season in Traverse City
TRAVERSE CITY – The Detroit Red Wings kicked off their traditional preseason in Traverse City on Wednesday, taking part in the eighth annual MI Wings Community Tour and visiting the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station.
Forwards Luke Glendening and Riley Sheahan interacted with community members and spent time with members of the U.S. Coast Guard before embarking on a new campaign.
"Excited would be an understatement. It’s been a long summer,” Glendening said. “We lost early again, and to get back at it with a new team is exciting, and so here we are. Let’s get it going."
"They do such a good job of making us feel at home here, and going to downtown Traverse City, playing some golf, or maybe spending a little bit of time out on the water, fishing and what-not,” added Sheahan. “It’s a great city, a great spot to be, and there’s so much support for the Red Wings around here. So we definitely feel welcome.”
The Red Wings take part in their 18th annual Training Camp Golf Classic Thursday afternoon at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, before opening training camp on Friday at Centre Ice Arena.
