Alabama-Huntsville Spoils Ferris State’s Season Opener

Ferris State started its hockey season at home against Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday. A goal by Hans Gorowsky midway through the second period proved to be the game-winner, as the Chargers walked away with the 2-1 victory in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association matchup.

Alabama-Huntsville got on the board first with over five minutes into the game when Max McHugh shot one by Ferris State goalie Darren Smith.

The Bulldogs responded quickly with Craig Pelfey finding Mitch Maloney for the team’s first goal of the season at the 9-minute mark in the first period.

Gorowsky gave Alabama-Huntsville the 2-1 lead with 10 minutes into the second period and the Chargers were able to hang on the remainder of the game.

Ferris State looks to bounce back on Sunday against the Chargers with a puck drop at 3:07 p.m.
