Charlevoix Shuts Out Benzie Central for Regional Title

CLARE – The 12th-ranked Charlevoix boys soccer team captured a Division 3 regional title via a 5-0 shutout win over Benzie Central on Thursday.

Christian Matye scored twice to lead the Rayders, who led 2-0 at the half.

Kevin Pearl, Grahm Kroon and Ty Fuchs also scored for Charlevoix.

Charlevoix will next face No. 1 Grand Rapids Catholic Central in a state semifinal Wednesday at Cedar Springs. Catholic Central handed Paw Paw a 3-2 overtime loss in a regional final on Thursday.
