Lake Superior State Loses First Game to Alaska

SAULT STE. MARIE – The Lake Superior State hockey team was looking to stay undefeated Saturday night against Alaska, but the Nanooks handed the Lakers their first loss in a 4-3 overtime win.

Alaska jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Marcus Basara and Aaron Herdt. The Lakers responded on a power play with a goal by Gage Torrel to make it a 2-1 game heading to the second period.

The Lakers will be at home next Friday against Minnesota St.-Mankato. Puck drop is at 7:37 p.m.
