Local Cross Country Teams Top Regional Tournaments
The MHSAA Cross Country LP Regional Tournament ended on Saturday, with many local teams finishing near the top their respective regions.
Region 01-1: The Traverse City West boys cross country team finished in third, while T.C. Central came in fourth. The Trojans’ girls cross country team finished in third and the Titans finished in fifth on the girls side.
Region 10-2: The Fremont boys cross country team topped its region, while on the girls side, Cadillac finished in second followed by Chippewa Hills in third.
Region 19-3: Benzie Central placed first in boys cross country, followed by Charlevoix and Traverse City St. Francis. The Gladiators won on the girls side, followed by Benzie Central and Charlevoix.
Region 20-3: Shepherd topped the region in the boys cross country competition, followed by Clare and McBain in second and third place, respectively. The Hart girls cross country team finished in first followed by Clare and Shepherd.
Region 28-4: The Harbor Springs boys cross country team finished in first place of its region, followed by Ellsworth in second place. The Rams’ girls team also finished in first, followed by Inland Lakes and Ellsworth.
Region 29-4: Manton topped its region for both boys and girls cross country, followed by Bear Lake-Onekama in second. Frankfort had a third place finish in boys cross, while Leelanau St. Marys finished in third for girls.
Region 30-4: Beal City finished in first place on the boys side, followed by Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart in second place. The Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart girls team had seven of the top nine runners, placing them in first.
Region 31-4: The Evart and Hesperia boys cross country teams placed in second and third, respectively. On the girls side, White Cloud finished in second place.
