Sault Ste. Marie, Cedarville Win UP Girls Cross Country Finals
The MHSAA UP Cross Country Finals finished up on Saturday, with the Sault Ste. Marie girls cross country team winning as a team in Division 1 and and the Cedarville girls cross country team winning as a team in Division 3. Brimley’s Austin Plotkin winning individually in Division 3 boys cross country.
The Sault Ste. Marie girls cross country team won the program’s first MHSAA UP Cross Country Finals for Division 1 on Saturday.
The Blue Devils were led by Courtney Arbic, who finished in second place, and three other runners who finished in the top 10 (Megan Arbic, Josie Roos, Shelby Eavou).
The Sault Ste. Marie boys team finished in fourth, led by Aaron Kinsella (7th individual).
Newberry finished third in Division 2 for boys cross country, while Rudyard finished in seventh. Kindred Griffis finished in third place for Newberry.
St. Ignace finished in fourth place for girls cross country followed by Newberry in fifth place. Rudyard finished in eighth.
St. Ignace’s Callie Kammers finished in sixth place and Rosy Shimkovitz finished in eighth.
The Cedarville girls cross country team placed first in the Division 3 girls cross country finals, led by Emma Bohn’s second place finish. Thomas Bohn placed fourth for the Cedarville boys cross country team.
Brimley were in second place of the Division 3 boys cross country finals, while Engadine finished in sixth and Pickford placed in 10th.
Brimley’s Austin Plotkin finished in first place of the individual rankings, while Pickford’s Micheal Satchell finished in seventh.
