Ferris State Football Advances to Quarterfinals

BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State advanced to the quarterfinals on Saturday with a 38-17 win over Colorado Mines at home.

The Bulldogs fell behind early on after the Oredigger scored on a Brody Oliver 2-yard touchdown reception under two minutes into the first quarter.

Ferris State responded well, holding a 10-7 lead heading to the second quarter.

With 57 seconds left in the half, Trevor Bermingham hit Shakur Sanders for a 14-yard touchdown, giving Ferris State the 17-10 lead. The Bulldogs quickly got the ball back and scored with 13 seconds until halftime on a Bermingham 2-yard run, giving them a comfortable 24-10 lead at halftime.

Bermingham finished the day with 392 passing yards and two touchdown passes. On the ground, he rushed for 44 yards and three touchdowns.

Sanders led all receivers with 214 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Ferris State advances to face Grand Valley State in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Bulldogs lost to their conference rival during the regular season, 35-23.
