Ferris State Women Fall to No. 9 Bellarmine in OT

BIG RAPIDS – Despite Rachel McInerney’s double-double effort, the Ferris State women’s basketball team opened its season with a 94-93 loss to overtime to No. 9 Bellarmine (Ky.) Friday.

McInerney led all scorers with 33 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 13-of-20 from the field in the opening game of the Bulldog Classic.

Ferris State trailed 45-39 at the half but took a 62-60 lead after three quarters.

Leah Humes tallied 17 points, three assists, six rebounds and three steals for Ferris State (0-1), while Riley Blair scored 15 off the bench. Alexis Bush also chipped in with 12 points and eight assists.

Mikayla Berry led Bellarmine with 18 points in 19 minutes off the bench.

Ferris State returns to the court Sunday, welcoming in Ursuline (Ohio) at 3 p.m.
