Glen Lake Beats Pine River to Advance to State Final

TRAVERSE CITY – Glen Lake advanced to the Division 6 State Final with a 34-20 victory over Pine River on Saturday at Thirlby Field. It will be the Lakers first time in the state championship since 1996.

The Lakers trailed 12-7 early on in the game, but responded well to the adversity to punch their ticket to Ford Field next week.

"The message at that point was, ‘Respond,’" Glen Lake coach Jerry Angers said. "You know, it’s 0-0. We are down 12-7. We gotta score. We gotta get the lead, and that’s exactly what they did. They responded to that situation, took over the lead, and we never looked back."

Glen Lake will face Jackson Lumen Christi on Friday, Nov. 25, at 4:30 p.m. at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich.

The Bucks end their season with a 9-4 record, making it to their first semifinal in program history.
