Glen Lake Celebrates State Finalist Football Team
MAPLE CITY – Glen Lake High School celebrated its 2016 Division 6 state runner-up football team on Sunday in its high school gym, recognizing every player and coach that participated during the Lakers’ playoff run.
“To have all these people come out on Sunday to honor these kids and say thank you to the kids for the season they had, it’s just a special moment for me, my staff and my players,” Glen Lake football coach Jerry Angers said.
The Lakers made it to the state final for the third time in school history.
During his speech at the celebration, Angers said, “Boys, you have raised the bar at Glen Lake for football. You played for those who played before you and you set the standards for each and every future Laker to play and follow.”
For the seniors, they will remember this season for the rest of their lives.
“It’s amazing. I mean obviously we wished we would have won it all, but just being able to go was a great experience,” Glen Lake senior Tommy Kendall said. “Seeing our year up on the banners is going to be great. I’ll bring my kids back here and tell them about it. Just great memories”
