St. Ignace Falls to Muskegon Catholic Central in Semis

PETOSKEY – St. Ignace’s run in the Division 8 state playoffs ended on Saturday in a 35-0 loss to Muskegon Catholic Central. It’s the second straight year that the Saints lost its semifinal game to the Crusaders.

"To be able to come back to the semis for a second year in a row and play the same team that you lost to the year before is a testament to great kids and a program that is doing the things the right way," St. Ignace coach Marty Spencer said. "Hopefully that can continue in years to come for whoever is taking over and hopefully the tradition of St. Ignace football continues."

Muskegon Catholic Central advances to the Division 8 state final for the fourth straight year after winning the last year. The Crusaders will be matched up with Ottawa Lake Whitteford.

St. Ignace ends its season with an 11-2 record, with its lone two losses this year coming against Muskegon Catholic Central.
