TC Central Riding Momentum into Regionals

TRAVERSE CITY – With its straight-set sweep of Gaylord on Saturday, the Traverse City Central volleyball program completed an improbable run to its first district title since 2008.

At 18-22-6, the Trojans finished mid-pack in the Big North Conference this fall, but are riding a wave of confidence as they prepare to meet Midland Tuesday in a Class A regional semifinal.

"I think that in regional play, we’re really going to surprise some people,” Central coach Kathleen Nance said. “I know that we weren’t expected to win this district, and I know that this win is going to help them believe that they can do it. I think that’s one of the things we struggled with a little bit this year is just our confidence but these girls are so capable and I think they really can surprise some people.”

Tuesday’s match is set for 7 p.m. at Gaylord.
