PETOSKEY – Behind an early two-goal lead, the Traverse City Central hockey team opened Big North Conference play with a 2-1 win over Petoskey on Wednesday.
Leading 1-0 after the first period, Central’s Noah Kendra buried a pass in front of the net from Jesse Blesh, giving the Trojans (1-2-0, 1-0-0) a 2-0 lead through two.
Scott Klavon put Central ahead 1-0 after one, with Kyle Knowles getting the assist.
Central travels to the Upper Peninsula this weekend, taking on Houghton on Friday and capping off the trip with Hancock on Saturday. Petoskey (0-2-1, 0-1-0) welcomes in Dearborn Saturday evening.
