Cadillac’s Pyles Signs with Grand Valley State

CADILLAC – Cadillac senior Liz Pyles signed her National Letter of Intent on Monday to continue her track and field career at Grand Valley State.

A thrower, Pyles plans to compete in the shot put and discus and learn the hammer throw.

“I chose GVSU because when I went on my official visit, I knew that this was my school and I felt so comfortable there,” Pyles said. “It had such a great environment. I got along with the other throwers really well. I know they all work very hard and love throwing as much as I do.  The throwing coach knows so much and can teach me so much more.

“All together the throwing program has done so well and knowing I’m going in such a strong program makes me confident that I will grow and improve as an athlete and as a person.”

A multi-sport athlete, Pyles is excited to become a college athlete.

“I’m really happy and excited,” she said. “I know it will be a big change for me but it will be a good one. I have worked so hard in something I love and now I will be able to continue in college will be amazing.”

Pyles plans to study criminal justice.
