Dynamic Duo: Bermingham, Bell Leading Ferris State into Semis

BIG RAPIDS – With Ferris State junior starter Reggie Bell hampered by an injury and seeing limited playing time this postseason, senior Trevor Bermingham has stepped in to form a dynamic one-two offensive punch under center.

Now the Bulldogs and the dynamic duo prepare for their biggest test to date, as they look to dethrone top-ranked and defending NCAA Division II national champion Northwest Missouri State in a national semifinal on Saturday.

"It’s unique,” Ferris State coach Tony Annese said. “I’ve really never done it before at this level, you know, with just kind of switching them at that pace, but it’s kind of who we are, so that’s what we’re going to do."

The duo has combined for 1,004 total yards and 16 touchdowns over three playoff games. In last week’s 47-32 quarterfinal win over rival Grand Valley State, Bermingham completed 9-of-11 passing for 163 yards and ran the ball 15 times for 51 yards and four scores.

Kickoff for Saturday’s semifinal is slated for 3:30 p.m.
