Stuck’s 25 Leads Charlevoix Past Harbor Springs

CHARLEVOIX – Behind a game-high 25 points from Elise Stuck, the Charlevoix girls basketball team rolled to a 56-35 Lake Michigan Conference win over Harbor Springs on Tuesday.

The Rayders (3-0, 1-0) took a 12-6 lead after the opening quarter and led 27-17 at the half.

Charlevoix’s coaching staff and fans in attendance donned pink Tuesday in honor of Annette Nesburg, mother of varsity members Natalie and Rachel Nesburg. Annette Nesburg passed away Sunday after a battle with cancer.

“It means a lot for girls to come together and really support each other at this time,” Charlevoix coach Liz Shaw said. “It’s been a hard week, but the girls are strong and they’ve really relied on each other to pick each other up.”

Natalie Nesburg tallied nine points and six steals, while Rachel Nesburg chipped in with seven points.

Harbor Springs (2-1, 0-1) is back on the court next Tuesday at home against Cedarville, while Charlevoix hosts Bellaire next Wednesday.
