Klavon Lifts TC Central Past West in McCullough Cup
TRAVERSE CITY – Scott Klavon’s goal with 1:18 remaining in overtime propelled the Traverse City Central hockey team to a 3-2 win over rival Traverse City West at Howe Arena Wednesday.
Wednesday’s victory gave the Trojans (6-11-0, 4-3-0) their seventh straight McCullough Cup win.
With the teams tied at 1-1 after the opening period, Noah Kendra put Central ahead 2-1 through two periods.
In the third, West’s Evan Wilson knotted the game up at 2-2 to send the game into overtime.
Central is back on its home ice Friday, welcoming in Gaylord, while West (6-8-1, 3-2-1) takes on Orchard Lake St. Mary’s at a Sault Ste. Marie tournament.
