Mt. Pleasant Girls Look to Defend CASC Title

MT. PLEASANT – The Mt. Pleasant boys and girls ski teams have hit the slopes once again this season under the direction of longtime coach Charlie Zeiter.

The girls program has returned five of six varsity skiers from last year’s Central Alpine Ski Conference championship lineup, including All-State honorable mention Ellie Booth.

“Our girls team is really strong,” coach Martha Zeiter said. “They almost qualified for the state meet as a team last year, which has only been done twice in the history of Mt. Pleasant ski teams, so we’re pretty hopeful.”

On the boys side, only one four-year senior returns for the Oilers.

“Well we’ve got a pretty young team,” senior Gavin Percha said. “I’m the only fourth-year senior. We have another senior that went out last year. Hopefully we can work hard, learn a lot, and set up next year and the years after.”

The Oilers are back in action Tuesday at Clare’s CASC jamboree at Snow Snake.
