CMU’s Heeke Accepts Arizona AD Position

MT. PLEASANT – Central Michigan announced Saturday afternoon that athletics director Dave Heeke will leave CMU to take a similar role at the University of Arizona.

According to the school, CMU President George Ross “will work with a national search firm to expedite the recruitment of Heeke’s replacement.” An interim athletic director is expected to be named “before or soon after April 1.”

Heeke started at Central Michigan in January 2006 as the school’s athletics director. He has overseen facility improvements to Kelly/Shorts Stadium and the Rose Center. The school also recently completed construction of a new soccer and lacrosse stadium in 2015.

During his time at CMU, the athletic programs have won 21 Mid-American Conference championships.
